History: As the civil complaint states, John Kemm and Patrick Perea began a retail smoke shop together, called Full Spectrum Smoke Shop in Albuquerque, NM. The business soon became profitable, and Patrick Perea decided to keep it all for himself. As the complaint states, Patrick Perea threatened John with death if he did not leave the profitable business. John left the business for fear of his life but also left behind his financial livelihood. Furthermore, Patrick and John were childhood best friends and they started this business together. Does this seem unfathomable? Yes it does, until you also know that Patrick did the same thing to his half-brother. Recall, the conman has to earn the trust of their victims, but Patrick Perea took it too far and stole from his best friend and family.
